CHICO – Jessica Leek’s best year yet as a Chico State Wildcat received more postseason recognition Tuesday – after winning All-California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) First Team honors, the junior opposite hitter was among 14 players named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-West Region team.
The award marks the second regional accolade for Leek, who was an All-West Regional Honorable Mention in 2010.
Leek was Chico State’s most consistent offensive player in 2011, leading the Wildcats with 321 kills and 36 service aces, while placing second on the team in blocks (52), digs (275), kills-per-set (3.15) and hitting percentage (.276).
Leek finished the season ranked ninth on Chico State’s career kills list (824), sixth all-time in career hitting percentage (.268) and 10th in Wildcat history in career service aces (102).
In addition to her two on-court awards, Leek was also named to the 2011 Capital One Academic All-District Volleyball First Team in early November.
