March madness may be referring to basketball, but the Chico State baseball team has gone a little crazy this spring as well. The Wildcats offense has put up double figures 11 times in 20 games and scored 20 or more four times to key a 15-5 start. The Wildcats will try to keep up their insane offensive pace against Cal State Stanislaus in a four-game series this weekend. SACRAMENTO – Chico State men’s basketball fans can glimpse of the program’s future by making the short drive south to ARCO Arena for the Northern California High School Basketball Championships Saturday. SEATTLE, Wash. – As the sixth seed, the Chico State women’s basketball team was definitely the Cinderella of the NCAA Championship Tournament West Region final against the No. 1 seed, Seattle Pacific. Despite the fact that the host Falcons had won 13 in a row entering Monday’s contest, the Wildcats had won 15 of their last 17, averaged over 82 points in their two West Region victories, and liked their chances of pulling off the upset. SAN BERNARDINO – Ten different Chico State hitters recorded at least one hit, run, and RBI as the Wildcats pushed across 20 runs on 23 hits to win the series finale at Cal State San Bernardino 20-5 Sunday and salvage a series split. ARCATA – Chico State true freshman pitcher Kacie McCarthy is soaking it all in during her first collegiate season. Point in fact – she watched Humboldt State starter Gracie Perez fire a no-hitter in the Lumberjacks’ 4-0 victory in Sunday’s first game and then went out and twirled a complete-game two-hitter as the Wildcats won the nightcap 1-0.
