WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – The Chico State athletics department was well represented as the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) released its annual list of All-Academic award winners Tuesday – 38 Wildcats were among 453 student-athletes throughout the conference to earn All-Academic honors for the 2009-10 academic year.
The total number of Wildcats winning CCAA All-Academic awards was one more than each of the previous two academic years, when Chico State boasted 37 All-Academic athletes.
Varsity student-athletes who participated in one of the 13 CCAA-sponsored sports, totaled a minimum of 24 semester or 36 quarter units and maintained a 3.40 or higher grade point average for the 2009-10 academic year were eligible for All-Academic recognition.
Chico State athletes winning CCAA All-Academic awards included:
Baseball – Brian Fowler and Phillip Hymas.
Men’s Basketball – Jay Flores and Jake Lovisolo.
Women’s Basketball – Brandi Foster and Melissa Richardson.
Men’s Cross Country/Track & Field – Dwight Aitkens, Tim Cannon, Bryce Peterson, Joseph Rath, Matt Sloggy and Max Zavala.
Women’s Cross Country/Track & Field – Amanda Clifford, Anna Eicholtz, Alia Gray, Madalyn Groulx, Paige Henker, Jamie Humphreys, Shannon Jordan, Kara Lubieniecki, Amber Maheu, Ana Marquez, Sierra Owens, Samantha Racine, Shannon Rich, Haley Swanson, Ashley Webster, Jonah Weeks and Skylar Young.
Men’s Golf – Bobby Bucey and Eric Frazzetta.
Men’s Soccer – Aren Dawkins and Adam Raish.
Women’s Soccer – Denni Jo Berger, Dara Karnofsky and Kasey Wall.
Volleyball – Jessica Leek and Sable Villaescusa.
